The first kindergarten in Ngolang village was built by Kintari in 2011. Since then, Indonesian teachers together with Czech volunteers have been teaching Indonesian and English.
However, after a series of several earthquakes, the original classically constructed building was damaged and was no longer safe for use. The Kintari Foundation organized a public fundraising campaign that raised the necessary funds to build a new, resilient and sustainable kindergarten. The campaign took place in 2018 and an incredible 300 people contributed.
Thanks to this interest and help, construction began in the same year. The design and construction was managed by Michal Krátký, a Slovak architect living in Sydney at the time. He prepared the design and personally managed the whole construction in Lombok for 4 months. The new kindergarten was inaugurated in September 2018 and is fully used for daily lessons and games.
The entire structure is built with natural materials such as bamboo, stone, dried bricks and wood. It is the first building of its kind in the area.
